INFO ABOUT OUR PRODUCTS AND INGREDIENTS

::::::

Sparkle is our classic type of biodegradable glitter that we have been trading since 2016. This product was developed over 10 years by Bioglitter® an English company with many years of experience in the glitter and pigment industry. Sparkle is the world's first naturally degradable glitter, tested and proven 87% degraded in mild environments such as streams within just 28 days, by Tüv Austria.

All our products are based on a core of plant film from primarily eucalyptus woodpulp, grown in European plantations with PEFC standards, which promises responsible forestry.

Sparkle is coloured with natural cosmetic pigments from primarily minerals and <0.1% aluminum for the shiny effect, coating in this type of EcoSparkles consists of 8% styrene, which is the only non-degradable ingredient in the product.

Our Sparkle collection is therefore 92% plastic-free and certified 90% naturally biodegradable within 1-6 months. The decomposition time depends on how many microorganisms there are to decompose the product, as well as the heat and humidity of the surroundings.

Sparkle is vegan, as there are no animal products in this type of glitter and neither the product nor its ingredients are tested on animals.

Shimmer is the world's first 100% plastic-free, as well as certified fully naturally degradable glitter and was launched in the spring of 2019. The basic ingredient in Shimmer is, like Sparkle, cellulose from eucalyptus wood, but instead of the guides, shellac is used as a coating.

As in sparkle, natural cosmetic pigments are used for colouring, as well as mica which replaces the aluminum in the mica.

Mica is a natural mineral that we know from most shimmer makeup types. The mica used in Shimmer comes from North America and is extracted under ethical conditions that promise good wages and working conditions for the employees, while also taking into account that the extraction does not harm the environment. The mica in Shimmer gives the product a gentler pastel color palette than Sparkle and it is also in our Shimmer collection that you will find iridescent glitter that changes color in the light.

Shellac is an industrially processed resin with animal raw material. Raw material ff et is extracted from the sap of various East Indian milk-sap trees when they host Lac beetles. The resin is scraped off and cleaned of impurities, the ground resin is mixed with water and boiled, after which the expensive water-soluble red dye Lac-Dye is produced. Shellac is a by-product of this process and is used in, among other things, guitar varnish and food products.

In Shimmer, shellac replaces the styrene used in our Sparkle collection and our Shimmer collection is thus 100% plastic free. Please note that Shellac is not vegan, but the product or ingredients are still not tested on animals.

EcoSparkle's HOLO, it's finally here. In 2022 we welcomed what must have been the longest awaited product in the glitter world, ever! Ever since we started, we have dreamed of the day when we could again decorate ourselves and our guests with holographic glitter. Holographic glitter means that when light hits, the reflection fragments and appears in rainbows - Magic!

To achieve this effect in silver mica, the surface of the flakes must be uneven, this is done by thousands of small perforations in the top layer of the product. Our holographic collection consists of a core made of eucalyptus cellulose, a layer consisting of <0.1% aluminum and a coating mixed of shellac and styrene, in HOLO the styrene content is <2.25%.

HOLO is tested and certified naturally degradable by TÜV Austria, which is recognized worldwide for the most comprehensive tests of environmentally friendly products and our holographic product is proven to degrade by as much as 95% within just 28 days in even the mildest natural environments, such as streams and lakes.

We carry 5 different silver variants that are fully holographic, but have also developed 8 unique EcoSparkles mixes which are a mixture of the different types of glitter, so some of our holographic mixes contain Sparkle and some both Sparkle and Shimmer.

EcoSparkles HOLO contains shellac, which is an animal product and is therefore not vegan, read more about shellac above at Shimmer. But of course we also do not test the holographic products or any of their ingredients on animals.

In addition to the above-mentioned ingredients on each product, our glitter also contains glycerin (plant oil) from rapeseed and water.

All our products are approved and safe for cosmetic use also in the near eye areas. However, we do not recommend using our super chunky glitter on top of the eyelids, as it can be uncomfortable due to the larger flakes. Our Shimmer collection are the only products approved for use on the lips. And Shimmer and our silver HOLO are the only ones we recommend using in nail art, as our clear colored products run the risk of bleeding when in contact with chemicals. Shimmer are the only products we recommend using in skin care, body oil and soaps.

We advise that children refrain from putting the glitter too close to the eyes - not because it can be dangerous, but because a little soul might get scared if they get it rubbed into the eye.

You will find that the mica is much softer on the skin (up to 40%) due to the plant film and therefore much more comfortable to wear for many hours. We recommend that you use our mica glue to attach the mica. On our super chunky flakes, you can experience that they bend up a bit when you have them on the skin. This is again due to the soft film, but we actually think this simply gives an even better effect.
